The Avello Spa is an oasis of serenity, relaxation and rejuvenation… a place where privacy and quiet are of the utmost importance.
What to wear
We ask that hotel guests come down in the robes and slippers that are provided in their rooms.
Guests not staying at the hotel and having more than one treatment will be provided a robe and slippers to wear while visiting our Spa, and will be assigned a locker to store any personal belongings.
During spa treatments, it is recommended that you experience body services without clothing. Our therapists are professionally trained and will ensure a level of comfort by appropriately draping areas of the body that are not a focus of the treatment.
We require that swimming attire be worn in all co-ed whirlpool, sauna and steam facilities. Clothing is optional in those areas designated by gender.
All lockers will have a security mechanism (such as a key or combination lock), however it is recommended that you leave valuable items in the safe in your guest room, at home, or for hotel guests, in one of the safety deposit boxes at the front desk of the hotel.
We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time if you plan on using the Health Club facilities. Please note, the pool facilities are only available to hotel guests. Access to the Health Club is available to spa guests with treatments that exceed $100.00.
If a late arrival is unavoidable, please call to notify the spa receptionist.
Arriving late will simply limit the time for your treatment, as we must complete your service by the designated end time in order to appropriately accommodate the next guest.
Cell Phone Usage
Quiet and calm are of the utmost importance to our guests – that’s why we ask that you turn off your cell phones before entering the Spa.
Cancelling a Spa Reservation
Because your spa appointments are reserved specifically for you, we ask that you notify the spa reservations staff a minimum of 24 hours in advance should you need to cancel or reschedule to avoid a full charge for the service.
All no-show appointments will be charged in full.
Spa Treatment Selection
A full menu of spa treatments offered is available to view on our website. If you feel that would like some assistance in choosing a service, we invite you to call the Spa directly and speak to one of our knowledgeable staff members. A discussion with our reception staff can often help you decide between specific types of Spa treatments, depending on whether you are looking for simple relaxation, or a treatment more therapeutic in nature.
Special Health Considerations
If you have any health concerns, or are pregnant, please be sure to notify Spa staff when booking your treatment. Our reception staff can offer guidance as to which treatments will be the most beneficial and those that should be avoided due to physical limitations or sensitivity.
We cannot perform massage on women in their first trimester of pregnancy. We do however have specialized pregnancy pillows for our expecting mothers over this time.
Avello is wheelchair accessible for all treatments in the Spa
All of our therapists are certified in the profession in which they practice. Avello is a relaxation Spa, therefore treatments cannot be reimbursed through your medical plan. Receipts cannot be issued for medical rebate.
Sauna or Steam Time
Sauna and steam are beneficial facets of the Spa experience, but should always be used in moderation. Proper usage time will vary, but there are some general guidelines that most individuals who are in good health can follow.
If you are looking to warm and relax your muscles, we recommend 12-15 minutes in the dry heat of the sauna. The wet heat of the steam room is effective for opening pores and awakening the respiratory system; for this, we recommend a 5-6 minute time frame.
Alcoholic Beverages & Spas
We recommend that you do not consume alcohol immediately before or after your spa treatments.
Generally, shaving is not recommended prior to any treatments or hair removal services. However, we do recommend that men shave prior to a facial treatment at least 2 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
Whether it is the room temperature or the level of massage pressure, please communicate your preferences with the your therapist so that they can make your time with us a personal, and memorable experience.
Feel free to request either a male or female therapist for your treatment. However, we would like to note that all of our therapists are professionally trained and will offer you the highest standard of service with continuous consideration for your comfort level.
All our therapists are certified in the profession in which they practice. British Columbia does not recognize other province or country registrations, therefore treatments cannot be reimbursed through your medical plan. Receipts cannot be issued for medical rebate. Avello is a relaxation Spa. RMT’s can be requested and is based on availability; a $20 charge is added to all RMT treatments when available.
Hours of Operation
The Avello Spa is open 8am to 9pm daily. Times may vary depending on the seasons. The Health Club is open 6am to 10pm daily.
We accept all major credit cards and cash. All prices are quoted in Canadian Dollars.
Our Spa staff are dedicated to exceeding your expectations and creating a memorable spa experience. For the comfort of our guests who come from all over the world an 18% gratuity and 12% HST will be added to all services and packages. Should you wish to increase this amount based on your service satisfaction, please Spa receptionist upon check out.
Spa Gift Certificates
You may purchase Gift Certificates for a specific dollar amount either online or at the reception desk of the Spa.
Guests must be aged at least 18 years of age to experience a spa treatment. If under the age of 18, guests must be accompanied by a guardian and can only have treatments performed by a female therapist. If available, salon services are offered to guests of all ages.
We work very hard at keeping our Spa a positive and relaxing experience, and we welcome comments and concerns from our clients as we cannot exceed our customers expectations without this constructive criticism.
